The Theatre...

Day #10 - Theatrics

You know what? It's been quite some time since I have been to a concert, play or what not and quite frankly, I have missed it. There is nothing quite like being trapped into a story with all the characters and with all the music.
Tonight Michael took me to see "The Drowsy Chaperone" and I absolutely loved it. It had just the right amount of laughter and funny music. It was a good little reminder to look for the positive and to enjoy every minute.
I grateful for the moments, created by the hard work and dedication of others, that really help me connect with myself and with those I'm surrounded by.

LOOOOONG Hot Baths...

Day #9 - Very Loooong Hot Baths...

Today I am grateful for long hot baths. I used to be a shower person and thought baths were worse than going for a swim in the Jordan River, BUT I have overcome that. I love taking long hot baths, watching a movie and simply thinking about stuff.

Flashcards & Homework...

Day #8: Homework Time

Today I am grateful for the time to do homework and to do it well. I actually enjoy doing it when I take the time to.

Three hours later and I'm only ready to study for the test....

Cute Husband

Day #7- Cute husband

Today I'm grateful for a whole bunch of things but specifically I'm super grateful for spending time with my husband all night long. He is so gosh darn cute. I came home from school to find dinner in the oven and was ever pleased. I could really get used to that. Doris Day also spent some time with us and my pursuit to get Michael to love old classic movies is coming along nicely. I'm grateful to have him in my life. He just has a way of making me laugh and enjoy life. I best be getting back to giving him my undivided attention - currently he wants to go get an ice cream cone. He is the man of my dreams!

Spray paint makeovers....

Day # 6 Spray Paint Makeovers

Today I finally got to one of my to-do's that has been a to do for a while. I'm grateful for that feeling of accomplishing something that you really want to do, but never seem to get it done.
I had a lamp that I wanted to spray paint navy blue to match the awesome lamp shade Amy found for me for on $3.47 (or something like that) Katie, Michael's mom, had sent out a lamp stand when Lara came back to school. I liked it but didn't really know where to put it and whatnot. So, I gave it a makeover. Today I am grateful for the the cuteness factor that can be caused by just a little bit of navy blue spray paint. It turned out pretty cute and I'm now on the prowl for another lamp stand and lamp shade to do this fun little project. I got the idea from the adorable Driscoll family, love them!

Here is a pic of today's drying product...

Oopsy Poopsy!

I missed a day whoops. I knew I had, but I had a research paper to attend to. So today I will share two things which I am grateful for.

Day #4: Good friends & neighbors
Sunday night Michael had work, so I was home by my lonesome. Some friends and I got together for dinner. It was nice to not have to cook and to talk and be around people. After I went to a little gathering of the temple group Michael and I are apart of. We go to the temple each week with four other couples, but that is all we ever do with them. It was the perfect evening getting to know them, their stories and laugh with them. We all were rolling with laughter and continued talking and talking. When we all decided we should probably get going a few of the people came and gave me a great big hug and said good bye. It was a big feeling of love and acceptance. I feel like Michael and I are in the right place at the right time. Although it's taken us a while to get to know people in the ward, I finally feel like we have made some eternal friendships. I'm so grateful for this, and I'm so grateful that the Lord is looking out for me. Today we even found out that our friends and Kevin and Bailey are moving in just a few doors down from us. Let the party continue on!

Day #5: Babies
Today I was thrilled to get a text from my friend Kayla. It said "Come over. We gotta show you something!" I knew exactly what that meant. I ran to the back and grabbed Michael and we hurried next door. Ding Ding Ding.... I was right. One of the twins was walking. Today Layton started to walk. I  know this may seem weird that I'm so excited about it and that I'm blogging about it, but these twins are the cutest little things. Before Kayla and Thomas know it those boys will be running full speed ahead. I'm excited to continue to watch them grow and develop.
I feel blessed to have the privilege to be around and work with other people's kids, whether it's in the nursery, a friend, or a neighbors child. I simply love kids and I'm grateful for the light they bring into the world. Shauna asked me the other day if I ever come home and am relieved that I don't have kids yet. I most definitely never am. It just makes me want kids even more and makes me excited to one day add a few numbers to our family.  I feel blessed to spend time with children and have learned that it's the simplest things that really do make me happy.

Cocoa and Scarves...

Day #3: Cocoa and scarves.

Today started out waking up to a hot breakfast in my kitchen. Now this hardly ever happens so I was more than happy to wake up to my oldest sister making breakfast. That's always the start to a good day, a good hot breakfast.

Today has two great reasons to be grateful I'm keeping warm.
I am reminded why scarves are such a marvelous accessory. I never ever realized the importance of a good scarf until I moved to Rexburg. The first real cold that hit the first year I was here was when I realized a scarf was much more than an accessory. And with today's weather that statement has no exception. Today I am grateful for things that keep me warm, especially scarves.

I keep asking myself why I got that last hair cut and why I didn't just let my hair keep growing. Shorter hair = colder body. It's nice for the summer time but man is winter going to be cold!

Hot cocoa is also a must.

Sisters...

Day #2: Sisters

Two of my three sisters came up for a weekend visit today. The day has been simply splendid. It was a sweet reminder of how grateful I am for them. We have had a lot of laughs and a ton of fun. We made visits to all the Rexburg hot spots. Yes, that means we went to the D.I. and Walmart. We are living right. Best purchase of the night, lightbulbs. But really, although I sound sarcastic it has been so fun to have them here.
I was really in need of some Worthington time and a little bit of me time. And this has been the perfect Worthington-me time I have had in a while. I'm grateful to be part of a family that loves and cares about me and sisters who are willing to come visit. They say they came for them as an escape from work, but really I think the good Lord knew I needed them here.

Gratitude... Why not?

Ok so you may call me a copy cat, but I have followed my sister Amy's example and decided to make my blog a little bit of a gratitude blog for the month. Why not right? I feel that this is something I need to do, for me. Might sound a little selfish, but I need to recognize more what I have and more of what I am blessed with. This is a good way for me to recognize that and be held accountable. So here goes.

Day #1: Temple work

Today I am grateful for the temple. A couple of weeks ago in church we were discussing the influence our parents choices while we were growing up had on us and the influence the choices we make now will have on our children. I have been thinking about the example of my parents a lot lately. I decided that they are the reason I never make my bed (they never did when I was growing up) but they are also the reason I like hard work and other such good things. Mostly I have been thinking about the example they set about attending the temple. I remember waking up on Saturday mornings to find my parents gone. They were temple workers out serving the Lord. I always wondered what it was that was in their awesome leather bags and what it was they were doing at the temple. The temple intrigued me. I wanted to go there. And now, every week I have the opportunity to go to the temple with my own husband. Temple attendance has become a must for us and without it things just don't go right. I'm thankful for the example of my parents and the encouragement they give us regularly. I'm also thankful for my wonderful Grandma Blomquist who for our wedding gave us the money to purchase our own temple clothes. She lovingly reminded us that no matter how poor we are we can always go on a date to the temple. So that's just what we do.
Another family who today has inspired me to be even a little better about temple work is the Bagley family. They invited me to be a part of their facebook group entitled Keeping Christ in Christmas. This is their goal for the Christmas season:

This year in honor of Christmas, our family wanted to do a meaningful project. After much thought, we decided we would focus on helping families on the other side of the veil. We have made it our goal to do as many indexing names, baptisms, initiatories, and sessions that we can between Thanksgiving and the New Year. We would like to invite you,... your family and friends to join us in this endeavor.

We will be having a weekly indexing event each Sunday evening at 7:30 at our home if you would like to join us (at our new home). We would like to invite you to come or encourage you to have an event of your own with your family and friends wherever you may be. Watch this group for updates on temple trips and feel free to post your own times when you are going. It will be a fun and unifying thing to do together.

If you have not tried indexing, it really is a lot of fun (it’s like a puzzle). See familysearch.org to register for indexing. We will also be keeping record of our progress. To do this, submit how many names you indexed, were baptized for, or other temple work to this group (either on the wall or through private message) and we will give a weekly count update.

Merry Christmas!

Isn't that just awesome! I'm grateful for the opportunity Michael and I have to be a part of it. Oh I can hardly wait!
I love to see the temple, I'm going there today! And I can hardly wait for 7:00  to roll around ;)

Booked

My one way ticket to hell is booked. This is a disclaimer for this post... if you are going to think less of me after reading this then don't read it. If you are going to read it and think I'm only human go on, keep reading.

So here is how the story goes. One sunny day last week Michael and I were walking to class. If you know Rexburg you know there is a giant dreaded hill, remember this, it's important later. We began to walk up the hill by the Kimball building towards the Ricks building. I was telling Michael a story of a girl who resembled Violet on Charlie and the Chocolate factory and how I felt so bad for her. I'll admit I was kind of laughing while I told him and I was kinda impersonating her. That's the part where I guess I thought about booking my ticket to hell.

We continued up the hill and I looked up. There was a boy on the left coming towards the Kimball from the Hinckley Building. This boy was in a wheelchair. Yes, a wheelchair. And since it was downhill he was rolling in that wheelchair. As he began to pick up speed I turned to Michael and said "What if he ran into the...."I was going to say curb, until he hit a crack and *cRaSH * bOOm * BooM. He was sprawled out in the middle of the road. Now this isn't the worst part about it.
The worst part about it was I started to laugh and if you know me you know that if I really think something is funny I can't control my laughter. I was laughing so hard I was crying. I turned around so my back was to the boy and buried my face in Michael's neck/jacket so I wouldn't look like the heartless jerk laughing at the boy who fell out of his wheelchair. That is the part where my ticket to hell was booked with a nonrefundable one way ticket.
I really guess I just thought it was so funny that the second I began to say something he crashed. I guess I find irony humorous. You can judge and think that I'm a bad person, but I promise that if I wasn't laughing so hard I would have been the first person over there to help him back in. Promise.
